I shipped a privacy feature that matched on a prefix the site does not use. It failed open, so it failed silently — and the fix turned on a regex anchor that can never fire.

A translation is a port, not a message

Manifest V3 kills your service worker when it looks idle, and a long stream looks idle. The fix was to stop sending messages and start holding a connection open.

Reading JSON before it is valid

JSON.parse refuses everything up to the final character, which is a problem when the interesting part arrives first. So I wrote a scanner that reads what has closed so far.
